Turing test, or testing the Artificial Intelligence

The Turing test is quite simple: you are at a computer terminal, with a screen and a keyboard, and you typing down as you are conversing with someone. You don't know who / what are you talking with, and if you can't make the difference between a human and a machine then the AI (Artificial Intelligence) running the machine has passed the test.

The current tests can be done using smartphones, tablets and other modern day gadgets. The AIs are becoming more and more intelligent but, at least for now, they are nowhere close to be conscious. Nevertheless, the limits to computing are the limits to your imagination.

The guy who came up with the idea of this test was Alan Turing, the guy who solved the Enigma encryption during the second world war and the guys who built the first modern computer (something very masiv because the tranzistors were not invented yet). Although now there are Turing test competitions worldwide, Alan Turing never expected anyone to actually take this test or use this technology.
