There are a lot of platforms and CMS online, and many of them can help you build the desired website (almost) no matter its purpose. You can use Wordpress (the most used CMS) for blogging or e-commerce, for example, but we have chose Joomla because (from our point of view) it's easier to design extensions for it (we have better controll of what's happening inside).
I am not trying to convince you to give up Wordpress for Joomla!, I am just telling you there are platform for any taste (and if you haven't find one for your taste we can develop it, but that's another story). If you find Joomla attractive enough we can help you design and extend your website.
